The Materials We Deliver — And What Each One Is Good For

Not sure which gravel is right for your project? You're not alone — a lot of homeowners don't know the difference between crusher run and HPB until they're standing in the driveway wondering what to order. Here's a plain-English breakdown of our most popular materials.

3/4 clear gravel delivery Durham Region Ontario

3/4" Clear Gravel

The go-to for drainage and backfill. Clear gravel is washed stone with no fines (no sandy particles), which means water drains through it freely. It doesn’t compact, which is exactly what you want for drainage applications. Best for: French drains, window wells, weeping tile backfill, areas where you need water to move through freely.

Crusher run A-gravel delivery Pickering Ajax

3/4" Crusher Run (A‑Gravel)

The most popular driveway base material in Ontario. Crusher run is a mix of crushed stone and stone dust (fines). Because it contains fines, it locks together and compacts tightly — which gives driveways and walkways a solid, stable base. Best for: Driveways, parking pads, walkways, shed pads, and any surface that needs a firm, compacted foundation.

HPB high performance bedding gravel delivery GTA

HPB (High‑Performance Bedding)

The standard base for interlock and paver installations. HPB is a clean, uniform bedding material that levels out easily and stays stable under paving stones and interlock. If you’re installing a patio or interlock driveway, this is what goes underneath. Best for: Patio bases, interlock driveways, paver installations, retaining wall bases.

Limestone screenings delivery Durham Region

Limestone Screenings

Super fine, super compactable. Limestone screenings are a very fine crushed limestone material that packs down firm and smooth. They’re often used as the final layer under interlock or as a base for patios where you want a tight, level surface. Best for: Patio bases, leveling surfaces, under flagstone, base layer for interlock projects.

How Much Gravel Do You Need? Here's How to Figure It Out.

This is the question almost everyone asks before ordering. The honest answer is: it depends on the size of your area and how deep you need the material. Here’s a simple way to estimate it yourself — and if you’re not a math person, just call us and we’ll calculate it for you.

The Simple Formula for Estimating Gravel

Measure your area in feet: Length × Width × Depth (in inches) ÷ 324 = cubic yards needed For example: A driveway that's 40 feet long, 10 feet wide, and 4 inches deep needs roughly 5 cubic yards of material.

Quick Reference — Common Project Estimates

• Driveway top-up (2" layer, standard car width, 40 ft long): Approximately 2.5–3 cubic yards of crusher run or granular A. • New driveway base (4" layer, standard car width, 40 ft long): Approximately 5–6 cubic yards of crusher run or granular A. • French drain backfill (standard residential, ~30 linear feet): Approximately 3–4 cubic yards of 3/4" clear gravel. • Patio base (HPB, 10x12 ft patio, 4" base): Approximately 1.5–2 cubic yards of HPB. • Garden bed top-up (10x20 ft, 2" layer): Approximately 1.5 cubic yards of topsoil or pea gravel.

Why Customers in Durham Region Trust Us for Gravel Delivery

We Place It Where You Actually Want It

A lot of delivery companies drop the material wherever is easiest for the driver and leave. We don't do that. When you book with us, you tell us exactly where you want the material — left side of the driveway, near the backyard gate, close to the garden bed — and we make it happen. Less work for you, better result all around.

Our Drivers Know These Neighbourhoods

We're based in Pickering. Our drivers aren't navigating from across the city — they know the streets, the driveways, the tight spots, and the quirks of properties across Durham Region. That local knowledge means fewer headaches, faster drop-offs, and drivers who care about not tearing up your property.

What We Quote Is What You Pay

No fuel surcharges tacked on at the end. No "minimum order" fees that weren't mentioned upfront. Our gravel pricing is flat-rate and transparent. You know the cost before we show up, and your invoice matches what we quoted. That's how it should work.

One Company for Everything

Need gravel AND a bin? Doing an excavation and need the debris removed? We handle bin rentals, gravel delivery, excavation, and small demolition all in-house. You deal with one company, one phone number, one invoice. It makes project management a lot simpler — especially for homeowners who aren't used to coordinating multiple contractors.

Gravel Delivery Questions — Answered in Plain English

We offer same-day and next-day gravel delivery across most of our service area including Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Scarborough, and Markham. Same-day availability depends on your location and what time you reach out — earlier in the day gives you the best shot at same-day service. Fill out the quote form or call us at 647-779-8385 and we’ll confirm the earliest available window for your address.

For a standard car-width driveway (about 10 feet wide, 40 feet long), you’ll need approximately 5–6 cubic yards of crusher run or granular A for a 4-inch base layer. If you’re just topping up an existing driveway with 2 inches of fresh material, that drops to about 2.5–3 cubic yards. Not sure? Give us your driveway dimensions and we’ll calculate the exact amount for you — no charge.

The most common choice for driveways in Ontario is 3/4″ crusher run (also called A-gravel). It contains a mix of crushed stone and stone dust that compacts tightly and creates a firm, stable surface. Granular A is another excellent option for heavier-traffic driveways. For a decorative top layer, some homeowners use limestone screenings or pea gravel — though these don’t compact the same way and work better as a finish layer over a compacted base.

HPB stands for High Performance Bedding. It’s a clean, evenly-graded aggregate used specifically as a bedding layer under interlock pavers, patio stones, and retaining walls. It levels easily, stays stable under weight, and doesn’t shift or settle the way other materials can. If you’re installing a paver patio or interlock driveway, HPB is the standard material your contractor will ask for.

Crusher run contains both crushed stone AND stone dust (fines). The fines lock together when compacted, making it ideal for driveways and any surface that needs structural stability. Clear gravel (also called 3/4″ clear) contains only washed stone with no fines, which means water drains through it freely but it won’t compact into a firm surface. Use crusher run for driveways and load-bearing surfaces. Use clear gravel for drainage, backfill, and areas where you need water to move through.

Gravel delivery pricing depends on the material type, the quantity in cubic yards, and your delivery location. We price our deliveries flat-rate with no fuel surcharges. Fill out our quote form or call 647-779-8385 and we’ll give you a firm price quickly — usually within the same call or within a couple of hours by text.

It depends on access. If there’s a gate or side yard passage wide enough for our truck, we can often deliver directly to the backyard. When you fill out the quote form, include a note about where you’d like the material placed and any access details (gate width, trees, narrow passages). We’ll confirm whether backyard delivery is possible for your property before we book.

Yes — in addition to gravel and aggregate materials, we deliver topsoil during the season (April through November). Topsoil delivery is popular with customers doing lawn restoration, garden bed installation, or grading work. Mention topsoil when you fill out the quote form and we’ll include it in your pricing.

Absolutely — and we encourage it. Many of our customers are doing renovation or landscaping projects that require both incoming material (gravel, topsoil) and outgoing waste (old debris, renovation junk). We bundle both services into a single visit where possible, which saves you time and money. Ask about bundle pricing when you get in touch.
